March 22 - 23, 2008: Equinox Ski Challenge
The Equinox Ski Challenge is a 24 Hour nordic ski race. There will
be 6, 12, and 24 hour divisions open to both relay teams and solo entrants.
This event will raise funds for the West Yellowstone Ski Education Foundation
and Mania Youth Programs. Those bringing food donations for the West
Yellowstone Food Bank will be entered in a special raffle as well.

April, 2008 - Cycle Days!!
Ride in Yellowstone for free and before the Park is open to public
automobiles or buses. It's a perfect way to spend a day. From West Yellowstone
you can ride to Madison Junction and then to the Grand Canyon of the
Yellowstone or Mammoth Hot Springs (the road between Madison and Old
Faithful remains closed to all until later in April) . Feet and Roller
blades are welcome, too.

This 4th annual Memorial Day music event brought to you by Norris Hot
Springs is fun for the whole family. Traditional bluegrass, psycho grass,

and bison burgers on the grill, local brews on tap, and Water of the

June 8-15, 2008 - Painted Buffalo Roam Again!
Twenty-six hand painted ¾-life sized painted buffalo cows will come out from winter’s quarters and will be corralled for one week on the lawn of the West Yellowstone Museum. They will be joined by a crop of ten, 28” calves that have followed the same process as last year’s buffalo crop: molding, Styrofoam sculpture, fiberglass statues, artist painting, clear coating, and the final unveiling on June 14th.

June 11, 2008 - Yellowstone Historic Center Centennial Celebrations
June 11th 2008: marks the one hundredth anniversary of the Town of
West Yellowstone. It was on this day in 1908 that the first train load
of visitors to Yellowstone National Park arrived at the site of what
was to become West Yellowstone. Over the years, the town that grew up
at the rail terminus, would host millions of visitors from all over
the world on their way to Yellowstone. The Union Pacific Railroad complex
built between 1909 and 1929 became the heart of West Yellowstone. Come
celebrate the past one hundred years with us in a day of historic presentations
and music. Events will be centered on the Oregon ShortLine Terminus
Historic Districts' Union Pacific Dining Lodge. Walking tours will be
available all day as well as rides in historic White Motor Coach Touring
buses. An evening program of music will be provided by the Montana Mandolin
Society.

Expanded Art show featuring northwest
regional art at the historic Union Pacific Dining Lodge. Expanded activities
to be announced. It is rumored that a bull, “Henry” will
be arriving so artists can paint another collage painting like was done
on “Frances”.

Unveiling of the new “painted
calves”, which will be assigned to their sponsors and the cows
will be reassigned to their new sponsors along with other events and

to their new homes. The cows will return to selected locations outside
West Yellowstone businesses for the summer, while the calves will then

June 21, 2008 - Janet Clarkson Memorial Triathlon
Janet Clarkson was an avid participant in many racing events. Janet passed
away at age 37 from Ewing's Sarcoma, a bone cancer. This annual event
in honor of Janet, and for the benefit of the West Yellowstone School's
Scholarship Fund and the American Cancer Society, is held in and around
Janet's summer-time home, the Madison Arm Resort on Hebgen Lake. Considered
a mini-triathlon, there is a 1000 meter swim, followed by a 13.3 mile
bicycle ride and concludes with 5.7 mile run. An awards ceremony immediately
follows the competition.

June 28-29, 2008: Eagle's Store 100th Anniversary Celebration Weekend
Eagle’s Store, a pioneer family business and West Yellowstone
landmark, will celebrate 100 years in business in 2008. To mark this
milestone in its history, the Eagle family is planning a 100th Anniversary
Celebration Weekend on Saturday, June 28th and Sunday, June 29th, 2008.
This special weekend will feature fanfare Open House events held at
Eagle’s Store to share the rich heritage of the Eagle family and
its long-standing business - - - appearances by Eagle family members
and distinguished guests, historic picture and story displays, Eagle’s
Store limited edition products and specialty food items, just to name

10K events for adults and a kids' race, too; and has been named one

Have you always wanted to try nordic skiing or want to take your family but can't afford to? Want to learn how to build a survival snow cave?
Idaho Falls Nordic Ski Patrol will be at the park offering lessons to those that want to learn the basics to Nordic skiing. A guided ski tour will be offered at 10:00 am that will take you up the River Trail to the Historic Ranch. March 7, 2009: Yellowstone Rendezvous Marathon Ski Race
Held on the first Saturday in March on the world-class Rendezvous Ski Trails, this event draws hundreds of cross-country skiers. With the blast of a black powder canon, racers sprint out to compete in a variety of age classes and distances in both classic and freestyle of 5 to 50K lengths. With grooming provided by Yellowstone Track Systems, this is arguably the best track to be found all year. The camaraderie and festive atmosphere have kept this an annual event, now in its 29th year.

A terrific end and beginning for snowmobilers! The World Snowmobile Expo culminates a year of Sno-Cross racing for many Rocky Mountain competitors with four days of racing thrills. Then, snowmobile manufacturers and after-market companies strut their 2010 stuff at the exposition hall. Nighttime activities include a “Funny-Money” Casino night and plenty of laughs. Plan now to attend!
